The Building Better Healthcare Awards is returning

For 28 years, the awards have recognised the projects, teams and innovations shaping the future of healthcare environments across the UK.

On 4 November 2026, the industry will gather once again at The Brewery, London, to celebrate the people and organisations driving measurable improvements in patient experience, staff wellbeing and operational performance.

This year’s expert judging panel (to be announced soon) will be looking for projects of all sizes that demonstrate tangible, positive impact across the healthcare built environment.

FAQ

Who should enter the awards?

The Building Better Healthcare Awards are open to all organisations involved in the healthcare sector — from NHS trusts and private healthcare providers to architects, designers, contractors, and product or service suppliers.

To be eligible, your project or product must have been completed or launched between July 2024 and July 2026.

How are the winners decided?

A respected panel of judges reviews entries based on areas such as facilities management, building design, patient experience, and digital innovation. Moreover, the judging process ensures that projects are assessed fairly and transparently.

How much does entry cost?

Regarding cost, each entry is £125 plus VAT. Therefore, organisations planning multiple submissions should budget accordingly. In addition, discounts may apply for larger groups or sponsors.

When does the judging take place?

The judges carefully review all entries throughout August. Then, in September, they meet to select the winners. Finally, the winners are announced at the awards ceremony held in November.

What is the criteria for the awards?

To qualify, your project or product must have been completed or launched between July 2024 and July 2026. For entries in building design and interior design or landscaping, the project must be fully operational.

The awards categories are refreshed annually to reflect the latest industry trends and innovations. For the most current criteria, please see here

Can I enter one product into multiple categories?

Yes! If your product meets the criteria for multiple categories, we encourage you to submit entries for all relevant categories to maximise your chances of recognition.

What do I need to provide when entering?

For example, entries should include a project summary, supporting evidence, and relevant images. Additionally, you may include testimonials from staff or patients.

Supporting documents do not count towards the 500-word limit.

What promotional support is available during the event?

In addition to the awards themselves, the Building Better Healthcare Awards offer valuable opportunities for increased exposure. Participating brands can benefit from a wide range of promotional channels – including digital features, print coverage, social media campaigns, and bespoke sponsorship packages.
